SOUTH PACIFIC TRIP: DAY 7 AND 8

Miles flown so far: 11,136

Following a late night drive and a brief overnight in Melbourne, we caught an early flight to Hobart, Tasmania for the second part of the Falls Festival.  I didn't know what to expect from Tasmania at all, and was surprised to find it was almost 90 degrees when we landed at 10am.
We drove right to the festival on Marion Bay.  This second part of the Falls had a decidedly more hippie-friendly vibration.  I went for a hike with some friends out away from the festivities to the beach on the bay itself.

The facilities were rustic.

Australia is a place of extremes, to say the least.  We walked through a dried up marshland to the beach, which as you can see was gorgeous and abandoned.  What you cannot see is the blast furnace of hot wind or the hundreds of jelly fish that kept us out of the water.  The heat and sun were truly remarkable, and we stumbled back to the festival to get some water.  Later, at sunset, a huge lighting storm blew in an dumped rain and hail on the concert.  Tasmania is WILD!  Happy New Year!
